CERAMIC ARTIST
From his workshop in the Cotswold village of Chastleton, Neil Ions produces a fascinating body of work ranging from bird ocarinas to figurative sculpture and handbuilt vessels. The ocarinas ( the word is Italian meaning little goose) are delightful hand sized sculptures, often of birds and fishes and sometimes more extoic creatures, reflecting Neil's strong interest in the natural world. These highly musical objects usually encompass an octave of mellow tone, following the English folk tuning system.
