Islip, Oxfordshire

IslipIslip is situated on the western edge of the fens of Otmoor, 22 miles south of Banbury, 7 miles south west of Bicester and in close proximity to both Kidlington and Oxford.  The village is the birthplace of King Edward the Confessor - born in the year 1005. He became Saxon King of England and later founded both Westminster Abbey and The Palace of Westminster. Islip remains a vibrant small community with two pubs and a local shop. Situated on the River Ray, near where it joins the River Cherwell, it's the ideal setting for many a beautiful walk in the surrounding countryside.
