The official website for Banbury, Bicester and surrounding North Oxfordshire countryside
This ironstone village originated in the Saxon period . St. Mary's church dates from the 14th century and is reputed to have the tallest spire (198 ft) in Oxfordshire. Several other medieval buildings survive and the village has a maze of ancient winding lanes with frontages of early buildings along them. As shown in the Bloxham Museum, the wool trade was very important in Bloxham, with
weavers working their own cottage looms and selling the cloth through the nearby market in Banbury. The village is just 3 miles from Banbury and all its amenities but has many of its own, including many interesting pubs and restaurants to sample and enjoy. Bloxham Village Museum is hosting an exhibition revealing weddings in Bloxham over the years.
